Writer | Digital Organizer

Stephanie Aly

Hi, my name is Stephanie! I'm a writer, digital organizer, and pop culture commentator in Brooklyn, NY. I'm interested in pop culture as an avenue for community building, education, and political mobilization.

About Me

I’m obsessed with fandom: the communities we build because of it, the culture we build around it, and the power we wield with it. I’ve been quoted on fandom by the Associated Press, Fortune, Slate, London Evening Standard, and more, and have advised the White House’s National Economic Council on organizing fandoms in support of the Junk Fee Prevention Act.I covered breaking news and pop culture trends at ksl.com and the Las Vegas Review-Journal before making my way to politics and eventually finding a way to combine it all.

BBC Radio

Pop Culture Commentary

I'm also a BBC Radio pop culture contributor, especially when entertainment intersects with politics, such as with the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Listen on BBC Radio or BBC Sounds, or check out some quotes below:

Vigilante Legal

Fandom Organizing

I got my first taste of digital organizing volunteering for political candidates like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders before working on Dianne Morales' NYC mayoral campaign. In the wake of Ticketmaster's disastrous handling of ticketing for The Eras Tour, I worked with Vigilante Legal to educate and organize Swifties around consumer rights issues.Through organic social media activity, outreach, contests, and surveys, within 1 month Vigilante Legal had a 10K-person mailing list and collected more than 7K stories from impacted customers.Ultimately, we were able to liaise with the White House's National Economic Council on strategic alignment regarding digital organizing initiatives related to junk fees.
